Democrats want to give Obama a third term; and a fourth, and fifth...

For those of you who voted to give President Obama a second term thinking, "He's limited to two anyway," Democrats want to give you a chance to vote him in for a third term, and more I'm sure.

New York Democrat Representative, Jose Serrano has introduced legislation aimed at “an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.”

This is nothing new. It's been tried before. What's interesting is what's missing in this resolution that is included in the 22nd Amendment. Below is a copy of the resolution. Do you know what's missing?

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 4, 2013

Mr. Serrano introduced the following joint resolution; which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

_______________________________________________________________________

JOINT RESOLUTION

Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment, thereby removing the limitation on the number of terms an individual may serve as President.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:

``Article--

``The twenty-second article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States is hereby repealed.''.

So, what's missing. The 22nd Amendment included a clause that if the amendment was ratified, making it a part of the constitution, it would not apply to whoever is president at the time. I guess Democrat Representative Jose Serrano forgot that little pleasantry.

The likelihood of this passing the House and Senate, much less being ratified, in time for Obama to run in the 2016 election is slim to none. It takes a two-thirds vote of both houses of Congress. With Republicans in control of the House and Democrats lacking a two-thirds vote in the Senate, it's rather unlikely it will ever make it out of Congress. And if by some miracle it would, it still takes three-fourths of the states to ratify.

While this is more than likely one of those proposals designed to make Democrats feel good, liberal Democrats in particular, it shows what they will do to keep the White House under uber-liberal control. They would really like to get this passed and ratified in two years; and have it apply to the current demander-in-chief so he can run for a third term.
